Object : Proposal of computer donation and training


Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing you to volunteer my time at the Tibetan Delek Hospital. I am an accountant working for a major Canadian aircraft maker. Your organization was recommended to me by Dr Jean-Louis Campagna, former doctor at Delek hospital and friend of mine.

Although I do not have a medical background, I could assist the hospital in acquiring and installing computers, as well as giving basic training to the staff on how to use them. Computers could allow doctors to obtain information on diseases and share opinions and diagnostics with their peers. They could also help create statistics on the services provided to the population and the prevalence of diseases.

At this stage, my objective is to raise enough funds to purchase two laptop computers for your hospital and be in Dharamsala from July 8 to July 16 to train your staff.

Here are some computer applications I could assist your organization with:

Internet browser

• Allow users to visit websites and get information on diseases and treatments.

• A selection of medicine related websites will be demonstrated.

• Software : Internet Explorer (www.microsoft.com)

Email

• Allow users to share opinions and diagnostics with other partners.

• Software : Gmail (www.gmail.com)

Telephone over Internet

• Allow users to make free or cheap phone calls through the Internet.

• Software : Skype (www.skype.com)

Word processor

• Allow users to store texts and images about patients and disease.

• Software : Open Office Writer (www.openoffice.org)

Data security

• Critical information will be store on the computers. I will provides a device to create a backups.

Project Funding
Here is brief list of the project expenses and how I am planning to fund them:

Transportation and living : 2,000$ : I will finance these fees by myself.
Hardware : $600 per computer, external hard drive (for data back up) $200 : I will get donations from local business and individuals.
Internet connexion : to be determined.

Time line

Conclusion

I have proposed above a project to which I believe could help your organization improve its potentially I am interested in volunteering with your hospital over the coming summer. I believe I could particularly be helpful with the computer resources. Computers can help doctors to save more lives. My knowledge in computing and my energy in fundraising can make it possible next July in your organisation.
